PM Shehbaz announces to provide solar panels to residents of Gwadar

PM Shehbaz Sharif on Friday announced to provide solar panels to domestic consumers in Gwadar.

He said this while presiding over a meeting in Islamabad to review progress on projects of power transmission lines in Balochistan.

The prime minister said the solar panels would be a gift for the people of Gwadar from the federal government. He said the government would leave no stone unturned to facilitate the people of Gwadar.

He directed to devise strategy for offshore and onshore wind power projects in Gwadar.

“Uninterrupted power supply will be ensured to make Gwadar Port the most modern port in the world,” he said.

Shehbaz Sharif directed to expedite and complete work on transmission lines in South Balochistan by December 2022. He said no negligence would be tolerated in delay of power projects.

The PM also directed relevant departments to ensure that time and cost was reduced as much as possible in long term projects.

The meeting was attended by Minster for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Power Engineer Khurram Dastgir and senior officials. On this occasion, a detailed briefing was given on construction of power transmission lines between Jeewani, Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara, Panjgur and Iran.

The meeting was told that within six months, the government would be able to supply an additional 100 megawatts of electricity from Iran to Gwadar, increasing the total supply to 260 MW.

The forum was informed that after completion of Khuzdar-Panjgur transmission line in December this year, 90 MW more electricity would be provided to the area.

The meeting was also briefed about Hub-Ormara transmission line that will further add 200 MW electricity after its completion.

The longstanding issue of Gwadar city because of developing energy shortage would end by October 2023 after the fulfillment of the 300 megawatts (MW) coal-terminated power plant.

The 300MW coal-terminated Gwadar power plant would cater to the requirements of approximately 150,000 neighborhood individuals toward the finish of 2023 under the 2050 Master Plan of Gwadar, said an authority source while sharing elite updates of the venture.

The power plant was one of the key energy projects under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he added.

The undertaking is pointed toward further developing unwavering quality on a nearby power supply that would assist with settling blackouts in the current monetary turn of events and metropolitan extension in the Gwadar area.
